Hi there! Thanks for stopping by.
My name is Andrew Mirakian. I'm a design director at VML based out of Kansas City. With nearly two decades of experience, I've had the privilege of working with top creatives in the industry and shaping some of the largest brands in the world. As a founding member of Brand Design at VML, I oversee project teams of brand designers and interface with client teams across the VML North American network. I approach each project with a collaborative, results driven mindset — ensuring that the end product is highly crafted and purposefully considered with each design decision informed by strategy.
My core specialties include design leadership, strategic brand transformation, corporate brand identity and holistic visual design system development. Comprehensive design capabilities include: logo mark and logo type design, packaging, retail and apparel design, branded photography and illustration, art direction for campaigns and branded content, user-interface and user experience design, guideline authoring and brand governance, brand activation and rollouts.
Notable brand transformations that I've lead include: Intel, World of Hyatt, Ford Universal Design System, Phillips 66, City of Hope, Red Line Oil, Frigidaire, Spirit Airlines, Allegiant Airlines, City of Nashville, Kemper Museum of Modern Art and KC Tech Council.
Along the way, my work has been featured and published by Brand New Under Consideration, Print Regional Design Annual, the Die-Line.com, Communication Arts and has received awards and recognition at AIGA, AAF, Clios and D&AD.
When I’m not doing the design thing...
I'm a suburban dad with a wonderfully supportive wife and two kids — a 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son.
I attempt to be weekend warrior taking on DIY projects or just getting out outdoors. I love to golf, play tennis, go on a run or a long bike ride.
Love cooking and grilling out. If weather permits, I could smoke meat on my back patio 7 days a week.
I love to travel. While there are a few destinations we consistently return to, we try to keep it fresh and explore new places.
